Big Bang Social has been working with HeartKids Australia to support the organisation’s new branding communications.
To explain, HeartKids is the national advocate for over 65,000 Australian children, teens and adults affected by congenital heart disease (CHD). The organisation aims to help those affected by CHD and their families to lead the most fulfilling life possible.
Formed over 40 years ago, HeartKids integrated into one national organisation in 2016. HeartKids is now preparing for a major campaign based on new branding with the following objectives:
- To raise awareness of HeartKids and the prevalence of CHD across all life stages
- To communicate that HeartKids is an organisation that supports all those impacted by CHD
Therefore, it was important for HeartKids to have the input and support of their existing stakeholders. And so, Big Bang Social created a digital communications plan, the HeartKids is Growing Up campaign, to support HeartKids’ transition to the new branding. The campaign makes use of social media and other digital channels.

Big Bang Social has been working with HeartKids Australia during June/July 2020. In this time we developed the Heartkids is Growing Up campaign. Its purpose is to build awareness and acceptance amongst the organisation’s existing supporter base for the ongoing development of the HeartKids brand.
The Heartkids is Growing Up campaign acknowledges and celebrates the growth of the organisation over its 40-year history. The campaign aims to honour the work of the many people who have contributed to HeartKids over the past 40 years. And it aims to acknowledge the changes HeartKids has already undertaken that have facilitated its ongoing growth and relevance. Like all enduring organisations, HeartKids continues to adapt and change to meet the needs of its stakeholders and remain effective in an ever-changing world.
Heartkids is Growing Up is an integrated component of the broader HeartKids communications strategy. The campaign is being delivered through the organisation’s social media sites, website and the HeartKids e-newsletter.
The campaign is scheduled to run from July 2020 until October 2020. However, it may be extended to meet the needs of the HeartKids’ broader communications strategy.
HeartKids is currently running the HeartKids is Growing Up campaign. Importantly, supporters are contributing content through personal stories and photos. This engagement in the campaign is helping build the trust and internal support necessary for a successful transition to the refreshed brand and messaging.
Furthermore, the campaign’s first Monday Memories post has gained 4-5 times the number of likes and shares of a typical HeartKids post on Facebook. It’s getting a lot of love on Instragram too. This a very encouraging start to the campaign!
