Social media marketing delivers success for local arts enterprise.

Localjinni is a small Canberra arts organisation that curates ‘insider stories’ of place and incorporates these into active city walk experiences. This year, as part of the 2020 Contour Biennial Public Art Festival, Big Bang Social worked with Localjinni to create a social media marketing plan promoting its Twilight Video Walks festival series (October – November 2020).

Monica helped us to create an incredibly effective campaign – we sold out all eight walks and have massively increased our online audience – 17,000 Facebook views and more than doubled our followers over the life of the campaign.

Monica is fun to work with and really knows her stuff. It was terrific working with Big Bang Social.  We couldn’t be happier with the result.   Thank you Monica!

The need

After a successful run of the Lakeside Stories twilight walk in 2018 and 2019, Localjinni was seeking to expand its offering in 2020.  Localjinni had developed a second twilight walk experience – AlleyHART.  The company was seeking support to promote its more ambitious program of two walk experiences over eight event dates during the Contour 556/2020 Biennial Arts Festival (9-31 October) and beyond.

Event dates:

AlleyHART in Civic

  • Sat 17 October
  • Sun 18 October
  • Thu 29 October
  • Fri 27 November
  • Sat 28 November

Lakeside Stories at Lake Burley Griffin

  • Sat 10 October
  • Sun 11 October
  • Sun 15 November

Tickets $15 pp, sold online at localjinni.com.au.

Each event hosted up to 18 participants.  The objective of this social media marketing plan was to promote Localjinni, the twilight walks and sell-out all events.

Our solution

Big Bang Social created a social media marketing campaign utilising Localjinni’s existing digital assets – Facebook, Instagram and website.

Using creative images to generate FOMO (fear of missing out) and drive ticket sales

The social media marketing plan included a review of the communications environment, summary of the campaign’s target audience, content themes and a social media campaign schedule.

We also guided Localjinni through the implementation of the campaign, assisting with post creation, language, calls to action and use of Facebook’s business suite for scheduling and insights.

Localjinni sold-out all eight tours within five weeks of the campaign.  This gave the company directors, Fiona and Catrina, great peace-of-mind.  The sell-out allowed them to focus on delivering exceptional experiences for their audience.

Localjinni increased its Facebook following by over 100% during the campaign.

The social media marketing campaign also increased Localjinni’s visibility amongst their target audience.  The company now has more than double the number of Facebook followers and a significant increase in Instagram followers than it had prior to the launch of the campaign.
